The story of 'Captain America: The First Avenger' takes place mainly between 1943 and 1945, which is the furthest a movie has gone back from this cinematic universe. Synopsis: Steve Rogers is a skinny boy who has been repeatedly rejected when trying to enlist to fight against the Nazis during World War II. One day he receives the opportunity to undergo an experiment that, in his case, goes perfectly. After undergoing rigorous training, Steve receives his first mission as Captain America. Bonus for fans: If you don't mind getting into the series too, 'Agent Carter' would be the closest thing to a direct sequel, since its story starts in 1946. Focused on the adventures of the character played by Hayley Atwell, it has two seasons, the first of eight episodes and the second of ten.
